The House adjourns till 2 O' Clock Afternoon
Post Meridiem
The House met again according to adjournment.
Being called over were all present as in the Morning.
It being moved by a Member that it's supposed through the
Negligence of the Sheriff of Ann Arundel County that an
Indian Heathen Enemy and another Criminal made their
Escape out of the Prison of the said County and forasmuch as
this House finds it to be of ill Consequence, therefore Resolved
That the Sheriff of the said County be commanded to give his
Attendance at the Bar of this House tomorrow morning by
Eight O'Clock to answer to what may be objected against
him for such an Escape.
Resolved That Jacob Cole, John Murray, Stephen Ross &
George Hicks be allowed six Shillings a piece for their Service
in going for Mr Speaker and ordered That Mr Samuel Young
Treasurer for the Western Shore immediately Satisfy & pay
the same for which this Order shall be a Warrant
Major Nicholas Lowe, Mr Charles Greenberry, Mr William
Stone & Mr Hugh Ecclestone are by the House appointed a
Committee of Laws.
The following Message being prepared was read & ordered
to be entered Viz.
By the House of Delegates May the 21st 1705
May it please your Excy.
You having commanded that a hundred Men shall be at all
Times ready at the Command of each Colo in each respective
County to be raised for the Country's Service upon any Expe-
dition 'tis proposed to your Excellency & the Honble Council
by this House that a proportionable Quantity of Arms, Powder
and Ball be lodged in the Custody of each Colo out of the
Magazine Stores that the men may be ready furnished there-
with upon any such Expedition and that your Excellency would
be pleased to give sufficient Orders to each respective Colo
that upon any Motion or Action of the Indians those Men so
raised may presently march against them that no Time may
be lost. This we are of Opinion will tend much to the quieting
of the Inhabitants and the Security of the Frontier Plantations
