The Lower House. 483


The Honble John Hammond & Edward Lloyd Esqrs from
the Council enters the House and delivers a Message relating
to the publick Arms.
Read and referred till the Morning for Consideration
The House adjourned till 7 O'Clock to Morrow Morning

Dies Saturni May the 19th 1705

The House met again according to Adjournment & were
all present as Yesterday

Read what was done Yesterday

The Petition of William Josephs of Prince George's County
praying Leave to bring in a Bill to make Valid a Lre of
Attorney from his Father was read in the House.

Whereupon the said Josephs is ordered to attend the House.

Mr Josephs appears & produces his Papers Whereupon he
is ordered to withdraw

And ordered Mr Nicholas Lowe & Mr John Contee inspect
his Powers & Proofs thereof as is set forth in the Petition and
that they forthwith make Report thereof to the Powers &
Authorities therein given the said Josephs are full, sufficient
& legal.

The Message Yesterday by Colo Ennalls & Mr William
Coursey Read & ordered to be entered Viz.

By the Council in Assembly, Die Veneris 18th May 1705

The two Letters herewith sent you are from Mr Micajah
Perry a worthy Merchant who wishes this Province extremely
well; If they give you Sufficient Reason to believe your Neigh-
bours were apprehensive of any Encroachment from New York
we hope none will have Reason to think we have been too
vigilant for our Security agt any such Attempt

Upon which it was ordered the said Letters be read. A
Letter dated at London Janry 27th 1704 directed to his Excel-
lency Colo John Seymour her Majesty's Lieutenant General &
Governour of Maryland and another of the same Date from
the same Gentleman directed to his Excellency the Governor
of Virginia.

Upon reading whereof the Matters therein contained are
referred for further Consideration.

Moved by a Member that some Work of Window Frames,
Door Cases and other Matters about the rebuilding the Stadt
House are defective; therefore ordered that Colo Edward
