We have perused and will in due Time Consider the Sev-
eral Articles this day laid before us and we doubt not but
your Excy (with due respect to those honble Gentlemen with
you) will believe us the most proper and Capable to inform
your Excy how far the present Constitution of the Province
is able to comply therewith and that your Excy will be assured
that nothing shall be omitted by us that with the Safety and
good of our Country we can do.
We return you our hearty Thanks fur the Information your
Excy is pleased to give us of some design carrying on against
us and beseech you to make more plain to our Speaker as
you were pleased to say that we may take more suitable
measures therein
We have resolved the Revising our Laws and what ever
appears deficient therein shall be provided for Suppression of
Vice and Immorality and we pray your Excy to give strict
Charge to all Officers and Ministers thro your Government
whose Duty it is to put the said Laws in vigorous Execution
by Causing the same to be Strictly observed since good Laws
without due Execution and observance are but dead Letters
to no purpose
We hope your Excy is Satisfied that we do not trifle away
our Time but do attend the business for which we came and
we assure you that hitherto our Debates have been moderate
and Candid and hope none is inclined to foment nor are we
to receive any the least Suspicions and Jealousies of your
Excy since both your words and Actions have given us such
ample Assurance of your generous resolution of Governing
us by the Laws protecting us in our rights and being ready
to assent to any thing for the real Good and benefit of this
Province, and we are Confirmed in opinion that the Honour
of our Sovereign and Welfare of this Province are so
inseparably annexed that they are never to be parted
Worthy Sr we are deeply Sensible of your generous and
just Carriage to us and hope you shall always find us a grate-
ful modest and peaceable People, And as we pray for her
Majestties long and happy Reign, so we do for your Govern-
ment over us
