By his Excellency the Governor & Council in Assembly
Decembr 7th 1704.
Gent. The Misfortune of Ann Arundel County is particu-
larly deplorable in the Loss of all their Records being burnt
in the publick Court House and requires your best Thoughts
to relieve the many Confusions & Perplexities that County
lies under: Wherefore we desire your Advice and Assistance
in framing some Law which may still the Minds of the Inhab-
itants there & confirm the Rights of several now fresh in
Memory which by Length of Time may be worn out to the
Prejudice of many.

Upon reading the foregoing Message it is resolved by the
House that Liberty is given to bring in a Bill for Relief of the
Inhabitants of the said County and that the Gent. Members
of the said County prepare a Bill accordingly and Message
to be prepared for the Council's Concurrence.

By the House of Delegates Dec. 7th ] 704.
Upon reading your Honors Message this Day by Colo Hol-
land & James Sanders Esqrs for Assistance in framing a Bill
for Relief of the Inhabitants of Ann Arundel County in Rela-
tion to their Records burnt in the Stadt House this House
have fully considered the same and resolved that Leave is
given the County to bring in a Bill for their Relief and
ordered that the Delegates of the said County prepare a Bill
for that Purpose to which your Honrs Concurrence is prayed.

And likewise ordered the following Message be sent Viz.
By the House of Delegates December 7th 1704.
This House finding some Agreement has been made about
the House of Colo Edward Dorsey, for Assembly & Provin-
cial Courts to sit in but lies in the Hands of Colo Hammond
which could not readily be laid before the House : Therefore
Colo Dorsey being present proposes to lease the House with
two Lots to the Public for their Use one year certain for
twenty Pounds Sterling & so at that Rate for any longer Time
to which this House concurred and prays the Concurrence of
his Excellency & Council Signed p Order
