Annapolis Decembr the 6th 1704
Honour'd Sir,
I humbly propose to your Honour & the Assembly that in
Case they shall think fit to rebuild the Court House either upon
the Walls as now standing or otherwise I shall undertake the
same to be finished in a very short Time for which I will give
good Security in 4000£ Sterling and be willing to receive such
Pay as they shall think fitt to agree on as Mony comes in &
accrue to the Province all the other publick Buildings having
gone through my Hands, I am ambitious for serving the
Country in this & to approve myself their & your most obliged,
faithful Humble servant. W Bladen.

Indorsed thus Viz. To the Honble Colo Thomas Smith
Speaker of the Genl Assembly Humbly present.
Which being here read & debated it's resolved by the House
that the Gent, appointed this Day to view the Stadt House
Walls meet the said Mr Bladen & treat with him about the
Rebuilding the said House & report the same & his Demands
to the House by all Expedition.
The House adjourns till to Morrow Morning Eight o'Clock.

Thursday Xber 7th 1704.
The House met again according to Adjournment.
Being called over were all present as Yesterday.
Mr Gerrard Fowlke a member for Charles County enters the
House.
Was brought into the House Answer to his Excellency's
Speech wch was read viz.
By the House of Delegates December 7th 1704
May it please your Excellency
We have taken your Excellency's Speech at the Opening
of this Session into our Considerations and have resolved with
all the Unanimity & Dispatch proper to such a Conjuncture to
take all possible Care for the Preservation of the Records &
restoring the Stadt House to its former Beauty & usefulness
by rebuilding & making good the Breaks thereof. We shall
be very sorry to be found in such a Mistake as to imagine
that we can separate Interest from that of the Crown of England
but hope that the constant Unanimity of our Debates & Reso-
lutions will shew us to have no other Intention or Designs than
such as may tend to her Majesty's Honour & the Good of our
