of this province so much mony as shall appear by the Journall
of Accounts of the last and this present Sessions of Assembly
to be due together with what the said Comittee shall further
Allow according to the Limitation and Intent of this Act to
the severall persons to whom the same shall be due according
to former usages for paying the publiq Charge and a fair
Journall of all their proceedings to be delivered to the Clerk
of the Assembly for satisfaccon of all persons therewith
concerned.

An Act against excessive Usury.

Be it enacted by the Queens most excellent Majesty by and
with the Advice and Consent of her Majestys Governour
Councill and Assembly of this Province and the Authority
of the same That no person or persons whatsoever within
this Province Whether Inhabitant or fforeigner upon any
Contract from and after the end of this present Sessions of
Assembly shall exact or take directly or Indirectly for Loane
of any Moneys Wares or Merchandizes or other Comoditys
whatsoever to be paid in money above the value of Six pounds
for the forbearance of one hundred pounds for one year
And so after that rate for a greater or Lesser Sume or for a
larger or shorter time. Nor shall any person or persons
whatsoever within this Province as aforesaid from and after
the time aforesaid Exact and take directly or indirectly for
Loane of any Tobo Wares Merchandizes or other Comoditys
for one year to be paid in Tobacco or other Comoditys of this
province above the value of eight pounds of Tobacco for the
forbearance of one hundred pounds of tobacco and after that
rate for a greater or lesser Sume or for a longer or shorter
time And that all bonds Contracts and assurances whatsoever
made After the time aforesaid for payment of any principall
money or Tobacco Goods or Comoditys aforesaid to be lent
or covenanted to be perform'd upon or for any Usury where-
upon or whereby there shall be reserved above the rate of six
pounds in the hundred for mony as aforesaid or above eight
