ward to the Town of Newcastle upon Delaware To the Sheriff
of Dorchester County Eight hundred pounds of Tobacco To
the Sheriff of Sumersett County five hundred pounds of
Tobacco To the Sheriff of Calvert County Eight hundred
pounds of Tobacco To the Sheriff of Prince Georges County one
Thousand pounds of Tobacco To the Sheriff of Saint Marys
County Eight hundred pounds of Tobacco To the Sheriff of
Charles County one thousand pounds of Tobacco To the
Sheriff of Baltemore County eight hundred pounds of Tobacco
Which said Severall and respective Sums of Tobacco Shall be
annually allow'd and paid to the Sheriffs as aforesaid in Con-
sideration whereof the Sheriffs of the Said Severall and respec-
tive Countys shall defray all such Charges as shall accrue by
reason of Conveying any such Letters or Pacquetts Any former
Law Usage or Custom to the contrary Notwithstanding.
And be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid that
any Sheriff Under Sheriff or Deputy that shall neglect or Delay
the Speedy Conveying of any such Letters or Pacquetts shall
forfeit and pay to her Sacred Majesty for every Such Offence
the Sume of five hundred pounds of Tobacco One half to the
Informer or him or them that will Sue for the same and the other
half to be imploy'd for the Defraying the County Charge
where any such neglect shall happen, to be recovered in any
of her Majestys Courts of Record within this Province by
Accon of Debt wherein no Essoyn proteccon or wager of Law
to be allowed
And be it further Enacted by the Authority aforesaid that
all such Publick Letters and pacquetts be indorst for her
Majestys Service and with the persons name that send them,
And if any person or persons whatsoever shall at any time
after the publication of this Act presume to Endorse any Letter
or Letters pacquett or pacquetts so as aforesaid which are not
for the Publiq Service He or they shall forfeit and pay for such
Offence five hundred pounds of Tobacco to be recovered in

end of the next Session of Assembly which shall first happen.
