bear such Offices as aforesaid Provided that such Clause shall
not extend to Such persons as Already have or hereafter shall
accept of Comissioners for Military Service from the Gover-
nour of this Province for the time being so as to discharge
such Persons from their respective Charges mention'd in such
their Severall and respective Comissions.
And be it Enacted that all Negroes and Slaves whatsoever
shall be exempted the duty of training or any other Military
Service. That the pay for the Officers and Souldiers of the
horse and foot aforesaid be not other than is hereafter men-
cond and for no longer time than such Officer or Officers
shall be in Actuall Service viz. To every Colonell of ffoot
two thousand pounds of Tobacco per Month. To a Major of
ffoot twelve hundred pounds of Tobacco per month. To a
Captain of ffoot one thousand pounds of Tobacco per month
To a Lieutenant of ffoot Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco per
month To an Ensign six hundred pounds of Tobacco per
Month To a Serjeant four hundred pounds of Tobacco per
month To a Corporall four hundred pounds of Tobacco per
Month To a Drumer four hundred pounds of Tobacco per
Month. To every private Souldier three hundred pounds of
Tobacco per Month To every Major Generall Chief Comander
in the ffield three thousand pounds of Tobacco per Month
and that every Colonell of Horse have two thousand three
hundred pounds of Tobacco per Month A Major of horse

of horse to be allowed thirteen hundred pounds of Tobacco
per Month A Leiutenant of Horse to be allowed one thousand
pounds of Tobacco per Month To a Cornett nine hundred
pounds of Tobacco per Month To a Quarter Master seven
hundred pounds of Tobacco per Month To a Corporall Seven
hundred pounds of Tobacco per Month To a Trumpeter
Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco per Month To every
private Trooper Six hundred pounds of Tobacco per Month
And that all these rates and allowances for such Officers and
Souldiers aforesaid shall be allowed and paid and no more and
the Month before mention'd be accounted computed and
reckon'd according to Kallendar and noe otherwise. And to
the Intent that whensoever it shall appear to the Chief Gover-
nour of this Province for the time being or his Councill to be
necessary to raise forces for the Suppressing any fforeign
Invasion or Domestick Insurrection or Rebellion or any ware
with any Indians that the said Officers and Souldiers may be
duly paid according proportions aforesaid And all other
Charges and Management of such War may be duly paid and
discharged without which this Province cannot be defended
and Secured.
