And for incouragement of such persons now bearing or that
shall hereafter bear the Office of Sheriff and who shall punctu-
ally comply with the publiq Creditors It is also hereby further
enacted by the Authority Advice and consent aforesaid that it
shall and may be lawfull for her Majestys Governour for the
time being where no just complaint is made against such
Sheriff to continue and make good their Cofnission for the time
and terme of three years Successively but no longer.

And be it further enacted by the Authority advice and

Consent aforesd that from and after the end of this present
Session of Assembly every person or persons within this
province which are taxable within the severall and respective
Countys thereof shall and may by force and vertue of this Act
at any time or times between the laying of the County Levy
and the five and twentyeth day of December then next ensuing
pay his or their levy or levys in mony or so much thereof as he
or they shall please or think fitt after the rate of one penny per
pound for Tobacco And the severall and respective Sheriffs
of this Province are required by this Act to receive the same
accordingly. Provided allways that when such person or
persons shall pay mony instead of Tobacco for his or their
levy or levys as aforesaid and shall not pay & discharge the
whole sum of Tobacco with which he or they stand charged
for his or their levys by mony but shall leave some part thereof

still due & owing in Tobacco such part so left due in Tobacco
shall not be so broken that the Sheriff cannot receive the same
intire in a Hogshead or Hogsheads the Quantity of five hun-
dred pounds of Tobacco being so accounted.
And be it Enacted by the Authority aforesaid by and with
the Advice and consent aforesaid That the severall Sheriffs of
the severall and respective Countys within this Province shall
and may after the end of this Sessions of Assembly by force
and vertue of this Act pay and discharge proportionably to
what he shall receive in money and not more Officers ffees and
allowances made to any Person or persons whatsoever in the
publiq or County Levys in mony after after the rate of one
penny per pound for Tobacco Provided allways that when such
Sheriff or Sheriffes shall pay mony instead of Tobacco to any
person for his allowance in the publiq or County levy and shall
not pay and discharge the whole sume of Tobacco due to
such person in mony at the rate aforesaid but shall leave some
part thereof still due & owing in Tobacco then and in every
such Case such part left due & owing in Tobacco shall not be
so broken that the party or partys cannot receive the same in-
tire in a Hogshead or Hogsheads.
