X. rests not Satisfied he may have an appeal to his Majesty in Council & not otherwise Proposed by his Excellency the Governor that whereas this Place is the Seat of Government but that the Parish is so small that it does not afford a competent Stipend for any p. 213 good deserving divine to officiate here That it be laid before the next Assembly to anex the next Parish to it that this Place in case Doctor Bray do not come in may be Suplied with some able Divine His Excellency proposes to the Board that whereas there are several Iudgments upon Navigation Bonds whether it be not fit that Executions should issue thereon The Board do advise his Excellency that the of the said Iudgments be suspended for that they are of Opinion that if any person should be executed therefore they have not wherewithal to make Satisfaction and it would affright many persons out of the Countrey The Act of Assembly made in September 1694 entituled an Act for Setling a Revenue upon his Majestys present Governor falling under the consideration of the Board & whether it may be justifyable to levy the 3d p hhd therein mentioned to which the Board do answer that they do believe the same is Justifyable His Excellency says that he does not pretend to it but that it is in the Country His Excellency acquaints the Board that a certain Person called Colonel Iohn Cood had lately been with him who he understood to be under some prosecution at Law that the said Cood had told him he had been with the Sheriff of St Marys County & had tendered him Bail & was now come to Surrender himself to Justice Ordered that the said Sheriff take Bail for his Appearance at the next Provincial Court Post Meridiem The Council Sate Present as before
p. 214 Mr Thomas Lawrence Produced her Majestys Letters Pat- tents under the Great Seal of Engid constituting him Secry of this Province which were Read as also their Excellencys the Lords Iustices Instructions to him the said Mr Lawrence whereupon were administred to him the said Mr Lawrence the Oaths appointed by Act of Parliament instead of the Oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy the oath of Secry of this his Majestys Province & Signed the Test & Association The said Mr Lawrence also gave his own Bond in the Sum of one thousand pounds Sterl Conditioned for the due Exe cution of his Office & was accordingly admitted thereunto
