570 Appendix to Council Proceedings, 1696—1729.
B. M. assaulted and in defending himselfe from the Rabble he Vol. 25. casually wounded a man.
That there was a Rumor of a Carolina Sloop being there, wch was intended to carry off those Privateers but notice thereof being given to the Governr he made the Master enter into 2000 ll bond to the contrary, but the sd Master being known to be an old Privateer himselfe is suspected notwith standing to have carryed the sd Chinton & Lassell away with him. Thc said Master's name is Meddlecot & is said to have been Chyrurgions mate to a Privateer that went to the Persian Sea about five years ago, whereof it is said that James Miller one of the Privateers afore-named was Master. Tho: Robinson.
Mr Francis Jones merchant being lately come from Phila delphia and having had the Perusal of the foregoing Infor mation does say that he is sensible of a great part thereof by his own knowledge, having been an Eye & Ear witness to severall passages therein contaired.
