Lib. X. also the oath of Counsellors & signed the Test & Association Upon reading several of his Majestys instructions to his Excellency the Governor as to that Instruction of Revising & Sending a Complete Body of the Laws It is thought proper to refer the same to the meeting of the Assembly As to that relating to Sallarys Extortions Fees & table of Fees to be set up in the respective Offices Resolved that a Proclamation be issued enjoyning every Person holding any Office within this Province to transcribe & Set up a Table of all such Fees as are due to them for any thing transacted in their Several Offices & that they do not demand or extort any more then what are allowable under pain of displeasure & being prosecuted according to Law p 210 His Excellency is pleased to propose to the Board that whereas the members thereof Live most of them very remote & that it would be a great hardship to Call them upon every small Occasion if they thought fit he would order the Clark of the Council to keep a Journal of such small things as should occur betwixt the several Meetings of the Council to be pre sented to them at their next meeting for their Assent or Dis sent & Gives them an instance or two of a Commission of the Peace which he was obliged to grant for Dorchester County before the meeting of the Council otherwise that County Court could not have Satt & likewise that he had Commissionated one Mr Elias King to be Sheriff of Kent County which Mr King was a Stranger to him but Recommended to be very well affected to this his Majestys Government a man of Sub stance & Capacity every way well qualified for that Office Of which the Board well Approving do advise that such journal be kept of those Proceedings to be presented to the Council as aforesaid which is Ordered Accordingly Ordered that the Several Receivers & Naval Officers have notice to prepare their Accots against the meeting of the next Assembly to be Sworn to & sent for England His Excellency being required to send an Accot to their Lordships the Lords of the Council of trade & Plantations of what Persons in this province are fitting to bear Arms the same is Referred until the Military Officers are Commis sionated p. 211 His Excy is pleased to inquire how the Country is Provided with Arms & Ammunition and where Lodged The Gentlemen of the Council do say that the Country is pretty well Suplied with Arms & ammunition & that his late Excellency Govr Nicholson took care to send to England exact accots of what was in the Country & how diposed of until his departure from this Government
