Who on his Corporall Oath declareth & saith tht after his B. M. being shipped on board the Shipp Samll & John Capt. Phil- Vol. 25. lips commnandr for London one of the Officers of the Brigan tine Josiah Capt. Day Commandr (a Pyrate or Privateer) did several times come to him enticeing him to leave his service on board sd ship & goe wth them in their Brigantine a priva tering giveing him great encouragemt of vast Gaine in little time wch perswasions soe much prevailed wth him that if he had his Cloaths clear wth him he had gone with them & left his service on board the sd shipp. James White. The Deposition of Geo. Bliss & Robt Pullman belonging to the shipp Samll & John Capt Phillips commandr taken upon oath before Jno Farmer Esqr one of his Majtyes Justices of the Peace for the Coty of Phyladelphia the 29th 8br 1696. Who on their corporall oath saith tht they were in Company of one of the Privaters or Pyrates belonging to the Brigantine Josiah Capt Day Commandr which Privateer perswading & enticeing tht sd Bliss to leave the ship Samll & Jno afd & goe wth them privateering & were assur'd by him tht they expected att least 2000” share a man in little time for he said tht their Capt. & them did resolve to spare none but the Engsh but take the 1st Vessell they met tht were not man'd wth Engsh men & further saith not George Bliss Robert Pullman Taken & sworne before me the 29th 8br 1696.
