cording to my Conscience and best Discretion and the power Lib. M. granted or to be granted unto me by his said Lordships Com mission or Commissions I will not for fear favour or Aflection or any other cause hinder or delay Justice to any but will truly Execute the said Office and Offices respectively according to his said Lordships Commission to me in that behalfe and to the true Intent and meaning thereof and not otherwise to the best of my understanding and Judgment I will not know of any Attempt against his said Lordships person or his right or Dominion into or over the said Province or the People therein but I will prevent resist or oppose it to the utmost of my power and make the same known with all Convenient Speed to his said Lordship and I will in all things from time to time as occasion shall require faithfully Counsel and advise his said Lordship According to my heart & Conscience. So help me God
His Excellency the Governor took also the following Oath I Samuel Ogle Governor of His Lordships Province of Maryland do Solemnly swear that I will do my Utmost that p. 49 every the Causes matters and things contained in the severall following Acts of Parliament of His Majesties Kingdom of Great Brittain (Vizt) An Act Entituled an Act for the En. couraging and Encreaseing of the Shiping and Navigation made in the Twelfth year of the Reign of King Charles the Second, The Act for preventing frauds and Regulating abuses in his Majesties Customs made in the ffourteenth year of the sd Kings Reign. The Act for the Encouragement of Trade made in the ffifteenth year of the said Kings Reign. The Act to prevent the planting of Tobacco in England and for Regulating the Plantation Trade made in the Twenty Second and Twenty Third Years of the said Kings Reign and Con tinued by a Clause in the Act against Clandestine Runing of Goods and for the more Effectuall preventing of ffrauds Re lating to the Customs made in the fifth Year of the Reign of our late Royall ffather; The Act for the Encouragement of the Greenland and Eastland Trades and for the better securing the Plantation Trade made in the Twenty fifth year of the said King Charles Reign; The Act for preventing frauds and Regulating abuses in the Plantation Trade in the Seventh and Eighth years of the Reign of King William the Third The Act for Incouraging the Importation of Naval Stores from her Majesties Plantations in America made in the Third and fourth Years of the Reign of her late Majestie Queen Anne so farr as it is continued & Explained by an Act giving further Encouragement for the Importation of Naval
