Maryland ss Benedict Leonard Calvert Governor and Commr in Chief in and over the Province of Maryland To Hugh Jones sendeth Greeting I hereby give to you the Church of the Parish of St Stephen in Cecil County now p. 46 vacant as by the Representation of the Churchwardens and Vestry of the sd Parish I am given to understand, and to my Gift by full right belonging; And I do ordain and appoint and constitute you the sd Hugh Jones Minister of the same Church and Parish, Provided you have performed or do per form all and singular the Acts and Services requisite for your Qualification as a Minister of the Church of England and of the sd Parish pursuant to the Canons and Constitutions Ec clesiastical of the sd Church of England and the Laws of England and this Province To have hold and enjoy the sd Church to you the Sd Hugh Jones so long as you shall act and conform your self as a Minister of the Church of England according to the Canons and Constitutions of the sd Church of England and the Laws of England and of this Province together with all and singular the Rights Profits and Advan tages whatsoever by the Laws and Customs of this Province appertaining to a Minister of the sd Parish: And I Do hereby require the Church Wardens Vestrymen and all others the Parishioners of the sd Parish to receive & acknowledge and to aid and assist you the sd Hugh Jones in all Matters rela ting to the discharge of your Function as the Minister of the sa Parish and to all and singular the Rights and Profits to you theretofore appertaining Given at Annapolis this 2d Day of October in the 17th Year of His Lord ships the Lord Proprietarys Dominion &c Annoq Domini 1731 B L Calvert
