vert Esqr his Brother the first person of his Lordship's Privie Lib. M. Council of State within this Province, which being Read is Order'd to be Entred and is as follows Viz.
C Baltemore Charles Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Bal timore &c To our Dearly beloved Brother Edward Henry Calvert Esqr Greeting Know you that we Reposeing special Trust and Confidence in your Wisdom and Diligence have Assigned and Appointed you to be of our Privie Council of State within our said Province of Maryland And We do hereby give unto you full Power and Authority from time to time and at all times untill We or our heirs shall Signifie our or their Pleasures to the Contrary, to Assemble and meet with our Governour of the said Province of Maryland and the other Members of our said Council for the time being when and where he our said Governour shall from time to time Direct and Appoint, to treat Consult Deliberate and Advise of all Matters Causes and Things which shall be Discovered or brought before you and the rest of our said Council, as well Concerning the Quiet Government and regulateing of the people there, as for the Good and Safety of our Said Province of Maryland. And for the better and more peaceable Government of our said Province of Maryland we do hereby Appoint you a Justice or Commissioner for Conversation of the Peace of our said Prov ince with full power and Authority to do and Execute all and every Act and Acts Thing and Things incident and belong ing thereto which any other Person of our said Council hath or ought to have Exercise or Enjoy as one of our said Coun cil, Justice or Commissioner as aforesaid And Lastly Our Will and pleasure is that you our said Brother Edward Henry Calvert shall be the first person of our Said Council, and you are hereby Authorized and Appointed to take have and hold the first and Chief place therein. Provided you our said Brother (before you take upon you the Execution of any p. 9 Powers and Authorities hereby granted) Do take the Sever- all Oaths, and Act and do all and Every matter and Thing requisite and Necessary thereto, or which any other Person of our Said Council hath or Ought to have taken and done To which all and Every Person and Persons of our said Province are hereby required to pay Due and ready Obedience as they will Answer the Contrary at their Peril, Given under our hand and Greater Seal at Arms the nineteenth day of June in the Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the 2d and in the fourteenth year of our Dominion over the said Province.
