468 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1727.

             Lib. x.   Lordship or his heirs or Assigns Lords and proprietarys of

                 the said Province shall repeal them or any of them respectively

                 and that the said Repeals be published within this province

                 I will do equal right and Justice to the poor and to the rich

                 within this Province to the best of my Skill Judgment and

                 Power according to the Laws and Ordinances of the said prov

                 ince and in default thereof according to my Conscience and

             p. 164    best Discretion and the power Granted or to be granted unto

                 me by any of the said Commission or Commissions I will not

                 for fear favour or Affection or any other Cause hinder or delay

                 Iustice to any but will truly Execute the said Office and Offices

                 respectively according to his said Lordships Commission to me

                 in that behalf and to the true Intent and meaning thereof and

                 not otherwise to the best of my understanding and Judgment

                 I will not know of any attempt against his said Lordships Per

                 son or his right or dominion into and over the said province or

                 the People therein but I will prevent resist or Oppose it to the

                 utmost of my Power and make the same known with all Con

                 venient speed to his said Lordship and I will in all things

                 from time to time as Occasion shall require faithfully Counsel

                 and Advise his said Lordship according to my heart and

                 Conscience                     So help me God

                   His Excellency the Governor also took the following Oaths

                 Appointed by the Acts of the Twelfth of King Charles the

                 Second and the seventh and Eighth of King William the third

                 in the following words vizt

                   I Benedict Leonard Calvert Governor of his Lordships Prov

                 ince of Maryland do Solemnly swear that I will do my utmost

                 that every the Clauses matters and things Contained in the

                 several following Acts of Parliament of his Majestys Kingdom

                 of Great Brittain (vizt) an act intituled an Act for Increasing

                 Shipping and Navigation made in the twelfth year of the

                 Reign of the late King Charles the second another Act made

                 in the fifteenth year of the Reign of his said late Majesty In

                 titule an Act for Encouragement of Trade another Act made

             p.  165 in the twenty second and twenty third years of his said late

                 Majestys Reign Intituled an Act to prevent planting Tobacco

                 in England and for Regulating the plantation Trade another

                 act made in the twenty fifth year of his said late Majesty in

                 tituled an act for the Encouragement of the Greenland and

                 Eastland Trades an Act made in the Seventh and eighth years

                 of the reign of the late King William the third intituled an

                 act for Preventing Fraud and Regulating abuses in the

                 plantation Trade an Act for the Encouraging the Importation
