opened their Eyes and put them upon petitioning of them- Lib. x selves for the very same thing which they rejected when here tofore tendered to them but now the face of things seems to be quite altered and the peoples Expectations Centre in a Tobacco Law only we therefore hope for a happy issue from the proceedings of our next Sessions which is to begin upon the second tuesday in July next We beg of your Honour and the honble Members of the Council of Virginia to believe that this present application hath no other foundation than an ambitious desire of Shewing P 149 our Zeal for the Common good by falling into the same or measures something like them which shall be or may have al ready [been] Concerted amongst you for the Advancement of the Tobacco Trade. This information we are in hopes Gentle men will not be unacceptable to you nor yet theAssurance of our Zealous Inclinations for Cultivating a near and more particular Correspondency between the two Governments than hath hitherto Subsisted which we promise our selves will be as Agreable to you as the prospect of Advantages thereby are to Gent Your most Obedient humble Servts Superscribed to the Honble Charles Calvert Hugh Drisdale Esqr Governor Willm Holland and to the Honourable the Thos Addison Members of the Council of his John Hall Majestys Colony of Virginia Phile: Lloyd Annapolis May the 21st 1726 Richd Tilghman M. James Bowles Esqr informs this Board that he is appointed Church warden of all Faiths parish in St Marys County and desires the opinion of this Board whether it is not an Indignity Offered to a Member thereof Ordered that the Clerk write to Mr Scott Rector of that parish desiring him and the parishioners to elect another in his stead which was accordingly done Mr Caldwell complains to the Board that the Nails sent for p. 150 by the Treasurer by Order of the Governor and Council are not proper for his work Ordered that he supply himself with such Nails as are wanting to finish the Shingling of the Council Room to be paid for out of the 3d p hhd for Arms &c and that Benjamin Tasker Esqr is appointed by this Board to Supervise the Shingling done to the Council Room and settle the Payment for the same with the said Caldwell and that the Clerk by his
