448 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1725.
Lib. x. On which Deposition was thus endorsed
The within Deposition was taken at the house of Mr Thomas Bordley and that the said Deponent did ask the said Bordley in what manner he shoud draw the first part p. 138 of the Deposition whereupon the said Bordley did write the words first in a Copy and the said deponent Cant remember that the said Bordley did anything more to the deposition than what first mentioned by the Depont and that the said Bordley has the Deposition amongst Poulsons papers March 17th 1724 Thomas Iobson
Sworn to before me Cha: Calvert
Sworn at this Board May 22d 1725

The said Thomas Iobson at this Board further deposeth by way of Explanation that to the best of his remembrance Mr Bordley only writt these words following Vizt (Thomas Iobson Aged thirty six years or thereabouts being Sworn on the Holy Evangelist deposeth that) and (June the 14th 1723 Sworn to as above before) being at the bottom of the said deposition and no more Test Thomas Iobson Geo. Plater Cl Concil
Whereupon Mr Bordley being Called before this Board was desired by the Governor to produce the Originall Deposi tion which he accordingly produced and upon perusall of the same the whole appears to be Mr Jobsons hand except the the two last Lines being Mr Griffiths and the date and pro bate being Mr Bordleys who himself at the Board Acknowl edges that at Jobsons Request he did write the form of the Preamble on a piece of paper and gave it to the said Jobson and that when Jobson brought the Deposition again he writt the date and probate thereto but never intended to make any p. 139 use of it nor was he any otherways concernd in it but appre hends that the said Iobson made that deposition Imagining it would be some excuse for his not delivering the Bills which were some time before demanded of him
Upon the Governors asking the said Bordley why he Con cealed the said deposition for two years without acquainting his Excellency he answered that it was accidentally put up
