Lib. x. ments of the pennsylvanians) endeavoured to take some Observations at the head of North east River by a very large Quadrant he had newly procured from England which Observations Mr James Logan Agent for Mr Penn examined as is there said and found very defective which he offered to prove by a Letter under his hand to the said Mr Carrol & it being also said that during those disputes several Letters passd between Mr Penns Commissioners of property & Mr Carrol aforesaid Ordered that Mr Charles Carrol be desired to lay all such publick papers both Letters and Answers as passd between the late Charles Carrol Esqr his Lordships late Agent and Mr James Logan and Mr Pen's Commissioners of property during his Agency His Excellency acquainted the Board that he had by Letter appointed to meet Sir William Keith at New Castle on the 10th day of March Instant but that by Letters from England p. 77 since that he is acquainted that Instructions from his Lordship are preparing there shortly to be sent over relating to the subject of their meeting whereupon his Excellency desired the opinion of the Board whether he should proceed in that Jour ney or defer it till those Instructions come to hand, the Board taking the matter into their serious Consideration are humbly of opinion that it is not advisable that his Excellency proceed in said Iourney now and his Excellency is thereupon desired to defer it till those Instructions are Come. His Excellency at the request of Mr Nicholas Lowe his Lord- ships Agent laid before this Board two instructions of his Lordships One Instruction 12 to Mr Bennet Lowe his Lord- ships late Agent the other Instruction 8 to himself which are as follows vizt
Copy his Lordships 12th Instruction to Mr Bennet Low vizt And whereas we have impowered you to let and lease forth lives or one and twenty years our Mannors on the the Eastern Shore (Ann Arundell only excepted) and we having Reason to believe that Application will be made to you for a Lease or Leases of some part or parts of our Mannor of Susque hannah formerly forfeited to my Grandfather by Colo George Talbot you are required before you make any Lease or Leases of any part thereof to Consult Mr Philemon Lloyd and if his Objections are removed concerning which my Secretary Mr Lowe has wrote to him you may then lease out any part or parts thereof on the usual Conditions as is directed by my 7th Instruction but you shall except out of such Leases all
