sundry Observations taken by Charles late Lord Baltimore Lib. X. will more fully appear vizt at the House of Robert Wade at Upland upon September the 24th 1682 where the Latitude of that place was found to be 39d..47.. 5 North that is almost thirteen miles Short of the Line of 40 North Latitude and again at the mouth of Octerara Creek upon September the 15th 1683 where the Latitude of the place was then found to be 39d..41..19 and nineteen miles and forty one seconds to the Southward of the 40th Degree of North Latitude which evidently disproveth the Ignorance or rather Corruption of such persons as have taken upon themselves to depose that the said Charles late Lord Baltimore did appoint an east Line to be run from the mouth of Octerara Creek to be a Northern Boundary of this province These are therefore in his Lordships name and by and with the advice of his Council of this province to declare publish and proclaim unto all persons whom it may in any manner concern Notwithstanding the many pretensions and false Allegations of sundry persons ill disposed to his Lordships just Claims and Government that the Lands towards Cheso peak Bay and the Susquehannah of which the Township of Nottingham within the Limits of the Tract of Land com monly called Talbot mánnor is a part ought in no wise to be taken or deem'd as any part of the Land in difference between p. 63 the proprietors of Maryland and Pennsylvania those disputa ble Lands lying all of them towards the Bay of Deleware and the Eastern Sea but that all the other Lands towards Cheso peak Bay and the Susquehannah together with all the Remaining Lands so as above by order of Council unto the 40th degree of North Latitude divided from the Land com monly called Deleware are positively and in express terms declared to be the Right of the Lord Baltimore and in the same order Adjudged to be Comprised within his charter and consequently no part of that Exception which was taken to the Charter of Maryland upon a pretence that certain Lands upon the Deleware were inhabited and planted by Christians at and before the date of the Grant thereof all which will plainly appear to persons of the meanest Capacity after having duly Considered the Letter and design of the within order of Council tho made altogether in favour of the proprietor of Pennsylvania of which all persons are to take notice at their perill and to the end that his Lordships proclamation should be made publick the Sheriff of Cecil County is hereby Commanded to publish the same in the usual and most noted manner Given at the City of Annapolis this 21st day of Jan uary in the eighth year of the dominion of the right honble 26
