       Lib. X.  At a Council held in the Council Chamber in the

                City of Annapolis February the 28th 1721

                                  Colo William Holland

                                  Colo Samuel Young

                                  John Hall Esqr

                                  Colo Thomas Addison

                     the honble   Colo Richard Tilghman

                                  Colo M Tilghman Ward

                                  James Bowles Esqr

                                  John Rousby Esqr

            

                   Ordered that Colo Samuel Young Treasurer of Western

                  Shore pay Mr George Dashiel for twelve hundred Foot of

          p. 37   plank after the late of one penny Currency p Foot out of the

                  three pence p hhd Sterl for the maintainance of a Magazine

                  the said plank being for the repairing of the powder House

                   Upon the petition of John Young Gunner and Armourer

                  praying that he may be paid his last years Sallary for clearing

                  the arms and other services done the publick

                   Ordered that Colo Samuel Young Treasurer of the Western

                  Shore pay to the said John Young Fourty pounds Sterling

                  being his full Sallary for the last year Ending the 11th day of

                  January last out of the 3d p hhd Sterling for Arms &Ca

                   His Honour the Governor bays before the Board a Letter

                  he received from Major John Bradford which was Ordered to

                  be entred and is as follows vizt

            

            

            

                      Eastern Branch of Potomack February 24th 1721/2

                  Sir

                   I am honoured with yours of the 21st instant by Samuel

                  Murray by Whom this morning I received half a hundred Wt

                  of Shot and Bullets and an order from Colo Addison for a

                  quarter Barrel of powder which I have sent for which shall be

                  all Carefully delivered to the Frontier Inhabitants for their

                  defence against the Indians if need be, I shall use my utmost

                  diligence in following your Excellencys Orders to inform the

                  the Indians the murtherers are in another Government and

                  that your Excellency is so much a Friend to the Indians as to

                  write to the Governor of Pennsylvania to have those mur

                  derers punish'd According to their desert

                   I shall also advise the Inhabitants by no means to Offend

           p. 38  the Indians and for my own part will endeavor to improve that
