336 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1716.
C. P. shall otherwise be delivered by due Course of Law whereof the Sherriffs & Magistrates are in no wise to faille And to the end that all Persons whatsoever residing or being within this Province, may have just & sufficient Notice hereof where by the Tenor of this Proclamation, may be more effectually executed: I do hereby Command the severall and respective Sherriffs, of the sevrll and respective Countys, duly to publish the same, at all Churches, Chappells and Court Houses, with in their Severall Countys, and at such and all other most Fub lick & frequented Places to make & Affix Sundry Copies thereof, Attested by them Hereof let them not faile at their Perills. Given at the City of Annapolis, this 14th day of Februry in the first Year of the Dominion, of the Rt Honble Charles, Lord Baron of Baltemore, absolute Lord & Proprie tarie of the Provinces of Maryland & Avalon Annoq Dni 1715.
Ordered that the respective Sherriffs of the Sevrll Countys, in this Province, take an Account of the Names, of all Papists or Roman Catholiques, in their Sevrl Countys, & returne the same, on a fair List with an exact Number of those People, residing in their respective Countys. Maryland sst Att a Councill held the Twenty third day of Aprill in the first Year of his Lordps Dominion, And the second of his Majesty's Reigne &c. Annoq Domi 1716.
Present His Excellency ths Governr &c. Thomas Brooke Esqr Philemon Lloyd Esqr The Colo William Coursey & Honrable Lt Colo Saml Young Lt Colo Richd Tilgh man Colo Thomas Addison The honourable Colo Thomas Smith being appoynted one of his Lordships Councill tooke the Oaths to his Majestye, appoynted instead of the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, as also the Oath of Abjuration, which he Subscribed, as like wise the Declaratian commonly Called the Test. And then took the Oath as one of his Lordships Councill. After which he tooke his place at the Board.
