     Reigne &c. And the first Year of his Lordships Dominion C. P.

     over this Province, Annoq Domini 1715.

    

                         Present

     His Excellency John Hart Esqr Governr of this Province &c.

    

              Thomas Brooke Esqr Col Thomas Addison

     The Honble Col Wm Holland &

              Lt Col Sam” Young Lt Col Richd Tilghman.

    

     Memorandum.

       That the Honble Edward Lloyd Esqr obtained His Excellency

     the Governour's leave, to be absent from the Board, at this

     tyme.

       The Honourable Thomas Brooke Esqr being present at the

     Board, his Excellency delivered to the said Thomas Brooke

     Esqr, a Letter from his Lordship, the Rt Honble the Lord Pro

     prietorie, and the Lord Guilford, Dated at London September

     the 19th 1715 and directed to Thomas Brooke Esqr and the

     rest of the Gentlemen, of Our Council in Maryland as follow's

     Viz.

    

    

     Gentlemen.

       The Experience which You have had, in the Affairs of Our

     Province, gives you Ability to Serve us. The Confidence we

     have in Your Fidelity, has caused us, to Constitute You of

     Our Council, and Your Governr will herewith deliver you,

     Our Commission, Do Your Duty to us, and you may Expect

     all Favours from

                           Srs Your affectionate Friends

                                      Guilford

                                        Baltemore

       Which being read.

       The said Thomas Brooke Esqr Col Thomas Addison and

     Lt Col. Richard Tilghman, tooke the Oaths to the King

     appointed by Act of Parliament, instead of the Oaths of

     Allegiance and Supremacy, the Oath appointed by the fifth

     and Sixth of Queen Anne, for securing her Matys Person and

     Government, and the Succession to the Crowne of Great

     Britain in the Protestant Line, which they Subscribed as also

     the Test, and then tooke the Oath of a Councellor, of State,

     within this Province.

       His Excellency acquainted the Gentlemen of his Lordship's

     Council, that Mary Hemsley the wife of Mr Philemon

     Hemsley, a liver in this Towne, having by some strange

     Means found or got into her Hands, a Letter wrote by a

     Popist Preist, in this City, to another Dated near three Years

     agoe, which she had kept from his Excellency's Knowledge,
