320 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1715.
c. P. The Judges of the Provincial Court at prsent are five Viz. The Honble Col Wm Holland, Col Thomas Smith, Lt Col Samuel Young Col Thomas Addison, And Lt Col Richard Tilghman. The said Court holds Plea of all Actions Real, Personal and Mixt, between Party and Party as well as Debts due to the Crowne & Criminal Matters so that the Court may be well said to be, both Kings Bench, Common Pleas and Exchequer. The Justices of the Court are allowed by Act of Assembly for every days Attendance in Court One hundred & fourty pounds of Tobacco per diem; They hold the said Court Generally twice in the Year Viz. Aprill & October. The Secretary of the Province is keeper of the Records and Prothonotory of this Court which Office He Executes by his Clerk commonly Stiled the Clerk of the Provincial Court To whome he pays a certain Sallary Yearly. The num ber of Attorneys in this Court is not certain their Fees are settled by Law. The Attorney Generall constantly Attends this Court and is at prsent Mr William Bladen to whome her late Majesty was pleased to allow a Sallary of 100 per Ann. to be payd out of her Revenues in this Province; but what was unapropriated, being granted by her late Maty to the Late Benedict Leonard Lord Baltemore he has not re ceived any Satisfaction therefore. There is also a Cryer of this Court whose Fees are settled By Act of Assembly Ap peals are made and Writts of Error brought from the Pro vincial Court to the Govnr in Council who are appointed a Court by Act of Assembly to receive and hear them. Mr William Bladen is Clerk of the Council of State at the Sallary of twelve thousand pounds of Tobacco p An. He is also Clerk of the Council or upper House of Assembly at the same Sallary p Ann. Thomas Macnemara is Clk: of the House of Delegates at the Sallary of twelve thousand pounds of Tobacco per Ann. William Bladen Esqr is the prsent Commissary Genrll or Judge of Probat of Wills and Granting Administrations: Whose Office is to see that all Wills of Persons dying in this Province Testate be duly proved, And the Execution thereof duly committed to such, who are appointed Exectrs thereof, and to take Care that all Admracons be duly granted to such who have Right thereto and legally represent the deceased Intestates, also to swear them faithfully to Execute the Trusts reposed in them and to appoint and grant Warrants to Ap praisers whome he is likewise to swear to receive and inspect all Inventories returned to his Office: And to Examine & pass the Accounts of all Exectrs and Administratrs upon their Oaths and proper Vouchers produced for the sevrll payments and disbursements they exhibit against the deceased's Estates
