Lib. x. such his Reports when of any Considerable Value weight or moment ten Shillings & upon small matters Five Shillings Then read the Claim of Lieut Collo Lowe high Sheriff of St Marys County for his trouble about Sly Clark & Mason which is referred to his Majestys Atty Genl to make Report what is fit & reasonable for the delinquents to pay Ordered whereas Sly Clark & Mason are fined 1600 ls of Tobacco that the said fines be appropriated to Satisfy Such Persons who were Imployed on that Affair it being thought reasonabie & necessary that those persons who Laboured to support the Government should be paid & Satisfied without which it will be a discouragement to any persons to shew their readiness to serve his Majesty & the Country upon the like occasion & for want of which great Detriment may happen to the Govt
November the 3d 1698 The Council Sate present as on Tuesday last Read the Petition of George Muschamp Esqr his Majestys Receiver of Potomack & Pocomoke District setting forth that he could not get in so much of the fines & Forfeitures as would Satisfy his Sallary out of the said Districts of Poto mock & Pocomoke therefore desire he may be paid out of the Surplusage of Mr Platers Districts of Putuxent p. Whereupon Ordered that Provided he makes it appear he has done his utmost endeavour to receive what fines & Forfeitures are due in his districts & that they will not Answer his Sallary that then he be paid the same out of the Surplussage in Mr Platers District of Putuxent Ordered for the future that the Deputy Receivers & Naval Officers take care to return their accts fairly Stated to the Receivers & Treasurers that they may be Ready Ad justed before the Assembly meets
