now? the Depont reply'd Yes, he is in Annapolis prison. Lib. C. B. Upon which the said Gay asked what do they intend to do with him, the Deponent answered, hang him if they give him his Deserts. Upon which the said Gay reply'd, By God there would be bloody noses before Clarke should be hang'd. The Depont reply'd that if he talked so he must be taken notice of. Upon which the sayd Gay replyd he knew nothing of the matter but as people talked but further added By God P 120 there would be bloody noses before Clarke was hanged. And further the Deponent Saith that a Certain Mr Stokes asked the Deponent above written Whether Wee had gott Richard Clarke the Deponent answer he was in Annapolis prizon The said Stokes asked the Depont what he thought would be the Issue, whether the said Clarke would dye or noe, The Depont answered without doubt if he had his De serts The said Stokes reply'd he never saw the Man, but rather Than he should be hangd he would give fifty pounds if he had no more mony in the World because he understood he was a brave man, or words to that Effect This was done in the presence of James Sanders And further Sayeth not Thos Larkin
Upon Consideration Whereof Ordered that the said John Gay & Mr John Stoakes be secured and bound over to the next Provinciall Court.

His John Seymour Esqr Govr in Chiefe &c. Major Genll LloydCol Ennalls Col Holland Col Coursey Mr Cheseldyn Mr Young & Col Greenfield W George Thorrold a Jesuite being brought before the Boarde, His Exncy was pleased to tell him he wondred what he had to do with his Servts to Seduce a poor Sick mayd Servt of his to change her Religion when almost dying. The said Thorold owns that he saw the Woman at Mr Car- rolls where she came to him, but that he never Saw her either before or after, And being askt if he then knew her to be the Governors Servt acknowledges he did.
