204 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1706.

(ent. the Arms) and do by these presents Oblige my self my heires Exrs & Admrs to be Ac countable therefore unto her Majesty her heires and Succes sors so often as shall be thereto required I Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand & Affixed my Seale the Day & year above written. p. 51 Att the Councill held at Annapolis Munday Septembr 22d 1706. Present His Excellency the Governour The honrble Thomas Tench Esq Robert Smith Esq Coll John Hamond Coll Edward Lloyd James Sanders Esq William Coursey. His Excellency acquaints the Board that having Severall weighty Matters to lay before them for her Majestys Service in as much as he is not yett recovered from his late long indisposition he hopes they will not take it Amiss if he has not put them in such regular Methods as they should be. And first his Excellency is Pleased to take Notice of her Majestys Royall Instructions for the building Goales &c and how Often the Insufficiency of the Goale at Annapolis had been represented, Whereupon with the Advice of the honrble Councill he had caused it to be amended & Strengthned Which Majr Josiah Wilson had undertaken and Performed The Board do say that it was very Requisite & approving thereof referr'd Majr Wilson to the Comittee for laying the Publiq Levy for payment, And Coll Hamond Desired to give them Satisfaction therein. His Excellency was Pleased to produce a Letter from Sr p. 52 Thomas Laurence Barrot Secretary of this Province of the fourth of ffebry wherein he much reflected upon his Excel lencys Iustice and kindness to him here intimateing that his said Excellency had put many Difficultys upon him as Obliging to give an unreasonable Security to William Bladen for the Payment of a Taylors Bill as he is Pleased to Terme it with Interest equall to the Principall. Whereupon the Boarde considering the said Letter & unjust Reflections make the ffollowing Representation Wee are truly Sencible that in this Perticular Sr Thomas Laurence makes a very ungratefull Re. turne, for his said Excellencys Interposition if it may be so called in that matter Since it was altogether in his Favour, for the further Confirmation whereof Mr Bladens Declaration.
