all the Clearks are to Assist. The Comission to the County Lib. C. B. Court of Ann Arundell being Burnt Advised and Ordered that a New Comission Issue appointing Mr John Gresham Mr Charles Greenberry Mr John Baldwin Mr Richard Jones Mr Amos Garrett Mr John Brice Mr Samuel Chambers Mr Charles Hamond & Mr Josiah Toogood Comissrs and a Dedimus to Coll Hamond to Swear the Iustices. p. 19 Advised and resolved that the Brick Building now Stand ing be Secured by under propping and Shoaring or otherwise as workmen Shall advise The Board Desire Coll Hamond to agree with Coll Dorsey to rent his forty foot house next to the State house Hill for the Assembly Provinciall & County Courts to Sitt in. Read the Proceedings of the Councill the 18th of October last Which were Approved of by the Board. His Excellency Informs the Boarde that he had been in formed that Mr James Heath had Presumed to Send a Copy of the Law for Preventing the Growth of Popery in this Province before the Same Could be sent home by the Gov ern ment. Advised that the said Mr Heath be reprimanded therefore And that the Clarks be cautioned not to lett any Copys be taken of Laws untill they are Sent for England on pain of his Excellencys Displeasure. Advised and resolved that for the preventing any ifire Especially in the publick Buildings and where the Records are Lodged and other Disorders in the Towne a Trusty Sober person be appointed to go about the Towne at Eight of the Clock and Tenn of the Clock every Night in the Winter to Warne people to have a care of their ffires and to take into his Custody and bring before a Magistrate any Dis- orderly persons And pursuant thereto His Excellency and p. 20 the Boarde agreed with Mr Evan Jones for 10 pounds p Annum to performe that Service. Ordered that a Letter be wrote to Mr Henry Gerrard to tell him his Excellency has heard of his presumtion in preaching; but if ever he Dares to do soe without leave first had from his Excellency therefore, he shall be Expel'd this Province. His Excellency acquaints the Board that he is informed Severall of the Laws made the last Session were Burnt in the State house And requires their Advice in this Disaster Who say that they thinke it Highly expedient the Assembly should meete on Thursday the 21st of November next When this Loss may be Supplied and other Weighty Matters as the Rebuilding the Court house & Settling Lands in Ann Arundell County may be considered.
