174 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1704.
Lib. C. B. said Act of Parliamt nor any publique or private Copy thereof according to the best Information had as yet been transmitted into this Province. A Gentleman prsent Saying that he was credibly informed the Said Act of Parliamt was to be had at Philadelphia in Pensilvania Ordered that an Express be imediately sent therefore. The Severall Gentn Members of her Matys Councill now p. 3 present being again nominated in her Matys Royall Comis sion tooke the Oaths appointed instead of the Oaths of Alle giance and Supremacye The Oath of privye Councellors and Subscribed the Test. After which his Royall Highness Prince George of Dane marke Lord High Admirall of England his Comission to his Exncy to be Vice Admirall of this her Matys Province of Pensilvania was read and published. And the Councill adjourn'd to the Councill Chamber. And there with the Advice of her Matys Councill His Exncy issued his proclamation for the Continuing of All Officers Civill and military in their Severall Stations & Offices untill his further Directions should be given therein.
Enter Procl His Exncy Says he is very desirous to meete the Genll Assembly as speedily as may be and is pleased to enquire what Orders or Methods have been given or taken for the Sayling of the Shipps & their Clearing. The Councill acquaint his Exncy that the Assembly Stands prorogued to the 15th Instant, And that the Officers of the Customes are forbidden to cleare any Vessells untill further Orders. His Exncy again Says He is very desirous to meete the Gen” Assembly as speedily as may be and asks whether it would be any ways prejudiciall to adjourn the Provinciall Court for a Small tyme, that the Assembly may sitt as soone as possible without interfering. p. 4 To which the Boarde do Say they do not thinke that it will be prejudiciall to any person provided that due Notice be given thereof and particular Expresses Sent to the Sevrall Countys on this Occasion. Whereupon It was advised and Resolved and accordingly Proclamation issued to prorogue the Assembly unto the 25th of Aprill Instant requiring them to meete at that tyme And also her Matys Writt to adjourn the Provinciall Court to the third Tuesday of May next Ensuing And ordered that particular Expresses be imediately Sent on these Occasion. Sr Thomas Laurence Secry of this her Matys Province & Willm Bladen Clk of the Councill tooke the Oaths appointed
