     Begun the twelfth day of Aprill in the third year of the p. 1

   Reigne of our Sovraigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God

   of England Scotland France and Ireland & the Dominions

   thereto belonging Defender of the Faith &c Annoq Dni

     Att a Councill held at the Court House in The Towne and

   Port of Annapolis in Ann Arundell County the 12th of Aprill

   1704. Present

   The honble Thomas Tench Esqr Presidt of her Matys Council

   Thomas Brooke Esqr Colo Edwd Lloyd & James Sanders

   Col John Hamond Lt Col: Wm Holland Esqr of her Matys

                                   Council

     The Councill being sate His Exncy John Seymour Esqr her

   Matys Capt Genll and Governor in Chiefe of this Province the

   Lands Islands and Territorys thereto belonging and Vice

   Admirall of the Same &c Came and produced her Matys

   Royall Comission under the Great Seale of England bearing

   Date at Westminster the twelfth day of Febry 1702 thereby

   comissionated him to be Capt Genll and Governor of this her

   Province To which Comission was read And the Honble her

   Matys Councill & other Gentn & Officers prsent payd all due

   Obedience thereto.

     Govrs Subscribe the Test and take the Oathe appointed by p.

   Act of Parliament instead of the Oathes of Allegiance and

   Supremacy The Oath for Encouragemt of Trade and that of

   Governor for administring Equall Right &c And further

   acquainted the Gentn present that there was one other Oath

   which he had allready taken at Westminster & is prscribed

   by a certain Act of Parliamt of her Matys Kingdome of Eng

   land (for enlarging the tyme for taking the Oath of Abjura

   tion for Security of her Matys Person and Succession of the

   Crowne in the protestant lyne & extinguishing the hopes of

   the pretended Prince of Wales and all other prtenders &c) to

   be taken by all persons in publique Office, and that he is ready

   & willing to take the Same againe here. But upon Enquiry

   for the Said Act of Parliamt His Exncy was acquainted that the
