X. your Reasons why our order of Yesterday for the Service of her most sacred Majesty were not Duly Complied with further you are in her said Majy Names required & Com manded forthwith to transmit to us the President & Council on whom the Government of this Province in the Absence of p. 323 his Excellency Colo Nathaniel Blakiston her Majestys Captain General & Governor in chief thereof is devolved according to the Instructions of the Lords of the Admiralty dated the 25th of June 1701 a true and Exact Journal of your Proceed ings since his said Excellency Colo Blakistons departure as by their said Lordships Instructions is directed and you are required to do every three months or oftner hereof fail not as you will Answer the contrary at your Peril Given under our hands and Seals this fifteenth day of April in the second year of her Majestys Reign &ca Annoq Dni 1703 Tho Tench President X To Captain Nath Bostock John Hammond X on Board her Majestys Edward Lloyd X Eagle Advice Boat Wm Holland X
Came Onesiphorus Haughton Chirurgeon of the said Advice Boat & says he was ordered by Captain Bostock to present the following Letter to the President and Council vizt
Honble Gentlemen I acquaint you that I have been here with her Majestys Vessel above this eight days expecting your Orders but have received none it being fittest for her Majestys Service that the vessel should be at the mouth of James River to prevent false trading & protecting this Province there being never a man of war there do think fit to Sail there with the Consent of my Officers if you do not send me orders so to do I am Honble Gentlemen Your humble Servant N Bostock
p. 324 Her Majestys Advice Boat Eagle at the mouth of Severn Tim Cockling Boats April 15th 1703 Maryland John Symonds Carpenter
Gent I desire your immediate answer The said Doctor Haughton being asked if he had brought any answer from Captain Bostock to this Board says that he has nothing further to deliver that he has nothing to do with the Command of the Ship nor has been advised with by Captain Bostock as the Boatswain & Carpenter have & then withdrew
