128 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1702.
Lib. X. Read the Right Honble the Earl of Nottingham her Maj- p. 292 estys Principal Secry of States Letter of the 7th of May last to his Excellency Colo Blakiston with her Majestys Declaration of War against France & Spain Also the right Honourable the Lords of the Council of Trade & Foreign Plantations Letter of the 13th of April last together with her Majestys warrant for continuing the Use of the present Great Seal of this Province Read a Letter from her Majestys honble Council of New York desiring the care of this Government to apprehend Wil liam Atwood Esqr late chief Justice & Thomas Weavor late Collector of New York in case they should come into this Province they having absented themselves for divers Crimes & Misdemeanors laid to their charge upon reading which Letter his Honour the President acquaints the Board that this Letter tho dated the 27th of July came to hand but the other day for that as he is informed it had Lain a long time in the hands of the Sheriff of Baltimore County the said Sheriff being called in was severely reprimanded therefore But ac knowledging his fault was cautioned to take Care of the like neglect for the future for that if he does so he will be dismist from his Office Read the Honble William Blathwayte Esqrs Letter to his Excellency Governor Blakiston of the ninth of may last desiring that the publick accounts may be regularly transmitted to be laid before the Lord High Treasurer & the Commissioners appointed by act of Parliament where upon it is Observed that his Excellency Govr Blakiston Lately gave very Strict Orders to her Majestys Receivers to transmitt them Read the Petition of William Bates Master of the Ship Sherburn of London as followeth
p. 293 Maryland ss To the Honble Thomas Tench Esqr President & her Majestys honble Council now sitting The humble petition of William Bates Mariner & Com mander of the good Ship Sherburn of London
Most humbly sheweth unto your Honours That your Petitioner as master of the said Ship being Bound into this Province with the said Ship & Cargo upon his De parture from England had the missfortune to meet with one Edward Randolph Esqr whom your Petitioner after many fair Promises of his good Behaviour received on Board in Order to give him a Passage to Virginia or Maryland with some others of the said Mr Randolphs Friends that the said Esqr Randolph during his passage occasioned great Disturbances on Board the Ship and being dissatisfied with your Petitioner
