     Arundell County on Thursday July the 30th in the first year     p. 288

     of her Majestys Reign &Ca Annoq Dni 1702

       The honble Thomas Tench Esqr President of her Majestys

     Council

                  Tho Brook Esqr Lieut      Colo Wm Holland

     the honble   Colo Ino Hammond                &

                  Colo Edward Lloyd        James Sanders Esqr

       His Honour the President acquaints the Board that his

     Excellency Govr Blakiston upon his departure advised him to

     call the Council before the last of this month and that his

     said Excellency had acquainted him that Mr John Carvile to

     whom he had sent the Sheriffs Commission for Caecil County

     had returned it refusing to accept thereof wherefore in regard

     that that County Court was very near at hand on the second

     Tuesday in the next month & no Person qualified to Act as

     Sheriff he proposed whether it might Not be proper none

     having applied for that Office to send a Blank Commission

     to James Frisby Esqr to give to such person as he shall think

     fitting for that Office

       And Ordered that such Commission be sent to the said

     James Frisby Esqr to be disposed of accordingly

       Also Ordered that Commission of the peace issue for Cecil

     County appointing Mr William Harris Hans Hanson Mathias

     Vanderhayden & Edward Blay of the Quorum Ebenezer

     Blakiston John Stoope John Hynson Joseph Hopkins John

     Moll & Samuel Byard Justices of the peace & Ordered that

     the honble Sr Tho Lawrence Baronet her Majestys Secry &          p. 289

     the Clerk of the Council keep each of them a fair Book

     wherein to enter the names of all persons appointed & Com-

     missionated to any office in this Province & the time when so

     that it may be Readily known who are the Officers civil &

     military within this Province

       Ordered that the Sheriffs of the several Countys inquire &

     make speedy Return of all such Officers names & the dates

     of their Commissions

       It being proposed that whereas the Government of this her

     Majestys Province is by his Excellencys Departure devolved

     upon the President & Council how the several Commissions

     to be issued under the Great Seal should bear Test
