           Lib. H. D. to leave things in Such a Condition that there may be no pre

                   judice to the publick by your Absence, and so we bid you

                   farewell Given at our Court att Hampton Court the 28th day

                   of Iune 1701 in the 13th Year of our Reign

                   Maryland in America.

           

           

           

               Lib.   X. At a Council held at the Town and Port of Annapolis on

                   Saturday being the 29th day of November in the thirteenth

                   year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King William the

                   third of England &ca Annoq Dni 1701

           

                                  Present

           

                        His Excellency the Governor

           

                                   Thomas Tench Esqr

                           the honble Thomas Brook Esqr

                                   Collo John Hammond

           

               p. 273 Produced and read his Majestys three Letters to his Excel

                   lency of the 21st of May 1701

                    Appointing Collo Edward Lloyd Mr James Sanders & Lieut

                   Collo William Holland to be of his Majesty's Council of this

                   Province

                    Whereupon the said three Gentlemen appearing at the

                   Board were accordingly sworn and admitted of his Majestys

                   Council within this Province having first taken the Oaths ap

                   pointed by act of Part instead of the Oaths of Allegiance &

                   Supremacy & Subscribed the Test & Association & then took

                   their Places at the Board

                    Produced and read his Majestys Letter of the 19th of Jan

                   uary 1700 directing a supply of 650 l Sterling to be furnished

                   by this Province for the Aid & Defence of the Frontiers of

                   his Majestys Provs of New York

                    Which being taken into due consideration & this Board

                   desiring to procure a dutiful compliance to his Majestys

                   Commands

                    It is their opinion that in regard the Govt of New York has

                   never yet called for the said sum it would have been very

                   chargeable to this Province to have conveened the assembly

                   on purpose only to have Supplied the said sum neither would

                   it have been adviseable upon the first Receipt thereof to have
