112 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1700.
Lib. x. Come over the Bay which is extreem hazardous by reason of the great Frosts which do and may happen. His Excellency is pleased to move to this Board that whereas several of the Council were lately dead vizt Coll° Henry Iowles Collo Charles Huchins & Mr Thomas Tasker & that the honble Sir Thomas Lawrence Baronet was altogether absent in England it was very difficult to procure a meeting of a Sufficient number thereof even upon the most urgent Occasions for his Majesty's Service he therefore required this Board to join with him in nominating & representing to his Majesty such & so many Gentlemen Inhabitants of this Pro vince who were best affected to his Majestys Interest of good Estates & capable of Serving him within this Province to supply their Places at this Board whereupon the Gentlemen of the Council present on due consideration & mature Delib eration had do nominate & recommend to his Excellency to be present Mr Thomas Laurence his Majestys Secry of this p. 270 Province Collo Edwd Lloyd Lieut Collo William Holland & Mr James Sanders as Persons best qualified to serve his Majesty in that station Then were produced and read the several Orders by his Excellency the Governor given to Captain Peter Cood Com mander of his Majestys advice Boat Messenger for Sailing to & fro upon several occasions since the arrival of the said Vessel here which were well approved of by this Board It being Represented that Mr Richard Beard had Extra ordinary care and pains in cleansing & well Fixing the publick arms ordered that Geo Plater Esqr his Majestys Receiver of the District of Putuxent pay unto him ten pounds Sterl out of the Revenue of 3d p hhd given by his Majesty for the Supply ing this Province with Arms &ca
Maryland ss William the third by the Grace of Cod of England Scotland France & Ireland King defender of the Faith &Ca to our Councillors & Delegates of our General Assembly in our province of Maryland whereas the General Assembly of the said Province by Proclamation of the Proroguation bearing date the 9th of November last stood Prorogued until the ninth day of February instant for divers weighty reasons as there- unto moving we have thought fit & do hereby Declare the said General Assembly to be dissolved and they are accordingly hereby dissolved of which we will & require that you & every of you take due Notice witness our Trusty & well Beloved P. 271 Nathaniel Blakiston Esqr Capt Genl & Governor in chief in & over our said Province of Maryland the 8th day of february in the 12th Year of our Reign Annoq Dni 1700 N Blakiston
