make a Peace with him which will not be reguarded by his Lib. X. People it is an affront to us to treat with after such manner His Excellency is pleased to enquire of the Board & Com- p. 264 mittee what care the last Assembly took for Lodging & Securing the Arms & Ammunition for that it is not fitting that the Arms & powder should be kept together in one place least any accident shoud happen so that both Perish It being Represented that Capt Hill had a very convenient house in the Town of Annapolis to be Lett advised that Capt Hills house be fitted up for Lodging the powder &ca accord ing to his Excellencys Directions Ordered that Capt Wm Hutchison & Mr John Hawkins re ceive & enroll as well the English & Indian Names that are already come in with the Emperor of those that do come in according to the message this day proposed to be sent to the Indians & that the said Gentlemen give the Indians notice not to hunt above the Eastern Branch Advised that the Articles of peace with the Empr of Nanti coke & the other adjacent Indians be confirmed & forasmuch as we have reason to suspect some Treachery from some In dians that hunt here & the other Nations that the said Em perors call home their Indians on this side the Bay least any Injury should be done them upon any Violence or Injury offered by other Indians unknown Whereas there was a proposal made last Assembly for paying the publick & County Leavies in Money & not in Tobacco his excellency is pleased to ask the Advice of the Board if they think it would occasion the Less Tobacco would be made to which the Gentln Of the honble Council do say that they do not believe it would have any such Effect p. 265 that there will be the same Quantity of Tobacco made as well then as before Collo Cood having applied himself to his Excy for a pardon & it being represented that he had of Late very well & Soberly Behaved himself Advised he be pardoned & at present he being very poor and not able to pay his fine of 201 Sterl advised that the execution thereof be suspended in consideration of his former Services His Excellency acquaints the Board that a month hence being it will be a vacant time he intends to go up to New York & they are of Opinion that it will be a very Conveni ent time August 28th 1700 Lib. H. D.
