An Act Impowering a Committee to Lay Assess and Appor-
tion the Publick leavy for this present year Seventeen
hundred & three

Forasmuch as it would be a great Charge to this Province
in generall for the whole Assembly to Continue Sitting only
to Assess and proportion the Publick Charge ior this present
year for prevention whereof Bee it Enacted by the Queens
Most Excellent Majtie by & with the advice and Concent of
this present Generall Assembly and the authority of the Same
That one Burgess or Delegate out of each Respective County
and one out of the Citty of St. Maries be and are hereby
authorized Empowered and appointed a Committee to Joyn
with some of her Majties honourable Councill to Lay and
equally Assess the said Publick Leavy of this Province that is
to say of her Majties honble Councill The honble Robert
Smith Esqr Colo John Hammond and James Saunders Esqrs
and of the house of Delegates Mr Richard Tilghman for
Talbot County Mr George Muschamp for the Citty of St Maries Mr William Watts for the County of St. Maries Majr Thomas Smyth for Kent County Mr Samuell Young for Ann
Arundell County Mr William Parker for Calvert County Mr Phillip Lynes for Charles County Mr John Hall for Baltemore
Majr William Harris for Cecell County Mr Thomas Greenfield
for Prince Georges County Mr Jacob Loockerman for Dor-
chester County Mr Peter Dent for Somrsett County or the
Majr part of them shall be and appeare at the towne and port
of Annapolis on the thirtieth day of October Instant then and
there to Lay and Assess the said publick Leavy allready
raised and also to allow leavy and Assess what further Charge
