Tuesday May the 7th 1700

The Council in Assembly Sate prsent as Yesterday saving
Mf Tench.
A Bill for Establishing and making valid the last Will and
Testamt of James Tyer of Charles County read the first tyme
and sent to the House by Colonel Courts.
This Board taking into Considracon that the Church in-
tended to be built at the Towne of Annapolis is wholly ne-
glected and delayed.
The following Message sent to the House vizt

By the Councill in Assembly
May 7th 1700

Vpon Inspection of the former proceedings & Journalls of
Assembly, It appears that considrble Sumes of mony have been
raised for building a Church in Annapolis; but that the Care
and Charge of applying that money to the designed use is
not settled in any persons certeyne, that may at any tyme treat
contract, and agree wth psons willing to undertake the build-
ing, which prvents the perfecting so noble and good a designe
It is therefore recoinended to your Considracon whether it
may not be advisable to make application to his Exncy his
Matys Govr of Virginia in whose hands the Said mony remayns
that his sd Exncy will please to call the said mony to be lodged
in some safe hand or hands in Maryland ready to be made use
on when Occasion And that You will intrust some pson or
psons to receive the said money treate and agree wth any
Undertakers, and upon Such Agreemt and pformance to pay
them out of the Said mony as agreed for

Then came Mr Bozmane & five other Members from the
house who bring the Bill for the Service of Allmighty God
and Establishmt of Religion in this Province according to the
Church of England. And The petitionary Bill for Confirm-
ing the Land given by Cap' Ladd to Christ Church in Calvert
County
Which sd Bills were read the third tyme & Assented to &
then Sent to the house by Col: Addison Col Courts & Mr
Brooke & Mr Tasker, who being just now come to Town
tooke his place at the Board
