And sent by me to yor Exncy three drest deer skins and as our Brother being now dead and Buryed that they cannot help, but hope the murderrs are not got so farr but may be taken and that they are very ready and willing to put on their Shoes and Run alter them if yor Exncy think fit they sent by me. one wild Catt, one ffisher, two Raccoones. And that the Delaway Indians are noe ways Guilty of the murder but shall be ready to go after the Chaharoone Indians and hope they may go and Come as formerly. They sent to me by yor Exncy ffour ffathoms of Wampum.
May the 15th 1697. The Council again Sate & were pTsent as Yesterday. Presents from Came and appear'd at the Board Majr John the Susque. hanna & Dela. 1 hompson & Capt John Hance of Ccecill County ware Indians and prsented his Exncy with the Skins Sent from
prsented by the Susquehannah King and Delaware Indians Majr Thomp- wch were kindly received. son & Capt Hance to his Exncy
Capt Hans's The Justices of the Provll Court and Kings Ordr to go to the Susque. Lawyrs being sent for, & appearing they were hanna & Delaware Indians asked their Opinion whether it would not be
necessary that some of the Chief men of the Sus theRect of quehannah, Shevanor & Delaware Indians be sent their prsents, & tht he would for to Come down to the Assembly to discourse have zor 3 of them who are of Opinion it will. Ordered there-
each Nation be fore that the sd Capt John Hance goe to the 2d her at the Indians and acquaint them that his Exncy had recd. Assblytheir prsents. And that he would have two or
three of the Chief each Nation Come down to the Assembly which is to be held here at the Port of Annapolis the 26th day of May instant, who may then have the opportunity to be heard, in what they have to Offer hereby directing the sd Capt Hance to Come with them (he being a person understanding in their Language) for which Charge and trouble he is to be allowed in the publick leavy of this Province &ca Ordered likewise that he make inquiry whether any other persons can give any further Information about the Murder there lately Committed and that he make return thereof accordingly.
