Present His Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Esq Capt Genll &ca Sr Thomas Lawrence Barront Secryr Coll: Henry Jowles Justices of the His Exncy is pleas'd to Send for the Justices of Provll Court & Burgesses &c the Provll Court and what Burgesses were in Sent for to Town and accordingly appeared Mr Speaker, Mr consult them abt the Murdrs Smith, Capt Tasker, Mr Hopkins, Mr Hemsley, lately comitted by Indians in Coll: Beale, MrHatton, Majr Thompson, Capt Hill,
P. 480 Mr Lingan, Majr Maxwell, Mr Staly, Mr Attr & Coecill and Prince Georges Sollicitor Genll as also Mr Robert Gouldesborough Counties . his Mats Counsell at Law being likewise prsent. His Exncy Acquaints them that the Occasion of Sending for
them at this prsent, was in the matter about the Noise of the Indians & those murders lately Committed by them in Coecill County and the head of Potomock and for to take their Advice therein considering no more of his Mats honrble Council were as Yet met together and that they would give their Opinion what is best to be done & whether they can find out a way to reconcile the thing without an Assembly; telling them that by the Informathn he has had, he finds the Originall Cause to Proceed Chiefly upon a Grudge with Some particular prsons upon the Score of Trade Yet does Conceive that upon desert ing their fort & withdrawing themselves into another Gov
