the western shore directed to the Assembly which was relating Lib. X. to the Treasury and delayed to delivr it Mr Clark says the Articles are not his nor do they Concern him Mr Clark is told that he is required to enter into Recognizance with two Securitys himself in one thousand pounds Sterl & each of his Securitys in five hundred pounds Sterl to appear at the next Provincial Court & to answer what should be Objected against him on his Majestys Behalf in the mean time to be of good Behaviour Mr Clark says that he has given security already in 40000 l Tobo to a Capias at the Kings Suit & 400001 Tobo to a Venire & hopes he shall not be held to further Bail It is observed to the said Mr Clark that the great Bail which p. iz6 he pretends to be already held to is upon the Accot of his associate Mr Robert Masons sheriffs Bond for whom he was one of the Securitys, the said Bond being a Bond of 200000 l Tobacco for the due Execution of the said masons office and now assigned & prosecuted by Mr G Vansweeringen And the said Mr Clark being asked who were his Bonds Securitys says Mr John Baptista Carbiny Mr Caecilius Butler & W William Harpham & says they were the best he could get at St Marys County Court Whereupon it is observed that Mr Carbiny is an Irish Roman Catholick & a man of little or no Estate Supposed to be much Indebted that Mr C2ecilius Butler is a known papist & is not known of any Visible Estate that he has [heard] that Mr Harpam is a person generally supposed to carry all his Estate about with him Mr Clark being again asked if he had given any security upon his last Caption upon his Excellencys Proclamation & last warrant says he has not therefore is told that it not appearing either from St Marys County Court or the Sheriff of that County that any security was given there for his appearance to Answer &ca at the next Provincial Court he is again as before required to enter into recognizance otherwise he is to stand committed to the custody of the Sher of Ann Arundel County & was accordingly committed [P. Clark's Petition.] Lib. H. D. To the worshipfull Justices of St. Mary's County Court now sitting the humble petition of Philip Clark one of the AtVs of this Court
