ordered the Deponent to bring a Boat to Carry him up to Lib. X. Slys and when he came to Slys house, Sly said Honest Robin I am glad to See you, be not afraid of the Governor for he would protect him or words to that effect that some time in the Last month Mr Philip Clark bad the Deponent not be afraid of the Govt as long as he saw him stand and said that the Deponents father was a Good honest Planter & did believe as good a man as the Governor Collo Henry Mitchell Deposeth that meeting Mr John Cood Sent at Mr Gerrard Slys in St Marys County the said Cood then in Company with Mr Philip Clark & several others did say that he would not have Nicholson take him for such a Fool to stay in Maryland when he might go where he was Safe. Upon which said Depositions & several Informations of the wicked illegal & Disloyal practices used & endeavoured by the said John Cood Gerrard Sly his Son in Law Robert Mason Philip Clark and others his Associates his Majestys Council at Law to whom the same were Referred do Report the same are Mutinous & Seditious & do tend to the raising Rebellion p. 57 within this Province & the Subversion of his Majestys Govt here Legally Established Whereupon it is Considered & advised that a Wart issue from this Board to apprehend the said Sly, Cood Mason and Clark & others their Associates Confederates & Abettors and to bring them before his Excellency the Governor & his Maj estys honble Council on Thursday next being the Seventh Instant & accordingly Such Warrant was prepared & Signed by his Excellency the Governor and the Gentlemen of his Majesty honble Council & was directed to Lieut Colo Henry Low high Sheriff of St Marys County Ordered that Summons be sent for the Several Persons then to Appear here which are named in the depositions already taken & supposed to be knows of Some of the ill Designs & Practices of the said Cood, Sly, Mason & Clark Read a Letter to his Excellency the Governor from Captain William Phippard begging his Excellencys favour in some Law Concerns he had in this Province with George Plater & Ann his Wife Executrix of Mr Robt Doyne Deceased for that Mr Gilbert Clark his Attorney had wrote to him, the said Plater was so Boy'd up with Favour & so Great in this Gov ernment that altho he had Obtain'd Judgment he could have no benefit thereof Thereupon his Excellency was pleased to send for Kenelm Cheseldyn Esqr Commissary General & Judge for Probat of Wills &Ca & the said Esqr Plater to whom the aforesaid Letter was referred to make Answer thereto Who do answer and say that the said Plater has above two p. 58
