never yet returned any Answer thereto it plainly appearing to Lib. X. him that the said Good is much Countenanced in that Gov ernmt And that he sees great Occasion to have an hundred men kept out on Wiccocomico & Potomack Shoar in this Province & two Sloops with an Officer & twenty men in each of them to lye in that River to prevent any ill Attempt by Good or others Proposed that a Letter be writ to his Excellency the Gov- p. 53 ernor of Virginia that in Case Sly or Cood be in his Govern ment to have them Apprehended & Delivered to this Gov ernment & that he will now issue his Proclamations to the Several Sheriffs of that Colony to take them and deliver them to this Government Otherwise if any Misfortune or Prejudice should happen for want thereof it cannot but be imputed to him.

Maryland ss Noverint Univrsi p prsentes nos Edwardum Batson, Richardum Marsham & Ninian Beale genrsos teneri et firmiter Obligari honbus Comissbus Customar in Anglia pro tempore prsente in plen et Just Suma duar Mill Librar bone et Legalis Monet Angliae Solvend eisd Combus aut Suis Certis Attornat Vel assignat Suis ad quamquid Solutionem bene et fidlr faciend Obligamus Nos et quembet. nriim p Se pro toto et in Solido hered Exores & Admres nros firmtr. p prsentes Sigillis nris Sigillat Dat apud Port Annapolis 30 die Junij Ano Regni Supra dicto Gulielmi 3tis Dei Gratia Angliae Scotia ffranciae et Hiberniae Regis &c 100 Annoq dmi 1698 The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Edward Batson is by his Excy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr Capt gen” and Governr in Chiefe in & over his Matys Province of Maryland and the Territorys thereto belonging Appointed and Comissionated to be Navall Officer of the Porte of Annapolis according to the direction of a Certeine Act of Parliamt Entituled An Act for incouragemt of Trade made in the fifteenth year of the reigne of our late Sovereigne Lord King Charles the Second of blessed memory now if so be the said Edward Batson shall well and faithfully pforme p. 211 his duty in the said Office in all things thereto relateing Then this Obligacon to be voyd and of none effect or else the same to be and remaine in full force and Virtue.
