Dorchester County be discharged from his said Office for Lib. X. Charging & Receiving of Fees Contrary to Law as by the presentment of the Grand Jury of the Provincial Court ap pears & that a blank Commission be sent over to Collo Charles Huchins to insert some other Capable Person as he shall think fit in his Stead. Ordered that the Presentment of the Grand Jury of the Justices of Talbot County be delivered to his Majestys Law yers to Prosecute— And that the presentments of the Commissioners of Cal- vert & St Marys County be Examined by the Records whether they be not allowed more then they Ought Ordered that the Clerks of St Marys and Calvert Countys do upon Sight hereof Return unto his Excellency at the Port of Annapolis an exact Acct under their respective hands to be Sworn to in open Court of the Number of days each par ticular Commissioner has sat in Court from the time of the laying their County Levy in the year 1696 Until the laying the Levy this last Year & that the respective Ordinary Keep ers where any of the Commsrs have been charged Expences upon the Score of their attendance on Courts do also send the Particulars of those Expences Under their Respective Hands to Commence the said Accots from the time afore men tioned & to be Continued to the Laying the Levy also the Last Year which said Accots are to be likewise Sworn to by the said Respective Ordinary Keepers in Open Court & after- P• 38 wards returned to his Excellency with all Possible speed the Sheriffs of those two Countys being hereby Ordered to Serve the said Clarks & Ordinary Keepers with a Copy of this Order Upon Representation of the honble Sr Tho Lawrence Bart his Majestys Secry of this Province that he has received Jnfor mation from the honble James Frisby Esqr & others concern ing some late enormous Practices committed by the present Clerk of Caecil County Court about the Election of Delegates of that County & that he is much given to Sotting & Drunk enness. Ordered thereupon that the said Clerk be displaced and that the honourable Sr Thomas Lawrence Commissionate some other more fit and Capable Person in his Stead Mr William Bladen Clerk of the house of Delegates being sent for Come And he is asked to make Answer what Charge the Speaker gave to the Committee of Agreivances & whether any Charge was given them before he had the Oath of Secrecy Admin istred to him as Clk of the house he says that the Speaker did give a Charge to the Committee of Grievances before 27
