                  394 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.

            

              Lib. x.  of Puttuxent District that Captain Robert Lurting made Oath

                  at his last Clearing out of this Province that he exported no

                  Furrs Yet he finds by the Return of a Certificate that he

                  Landed Several Furrs in England.

                p.     s It is Ordered that Mr Attorney General sue the said Lur

                  tings Securities and make such proceedings against him as

                  the Law in such case Directs

                    A Letter of Mr Edward Williss from Barbadoes to his

                  Excellency dated the 15th of August 1697 Concerning two

                  Negroes fraudulently being taken away from thence was by

                  Order delivered to Mr Attorney General

                    Came Mr Samuel Watkins Naval Officer of Pattuxent Dis

                  trict & Mr John West Naval Officer of Pocomoke District &

                  made Oath of them to their two Lists of Shipping they are

                  ordered to prepare two more of each sort.

                    The honble Collo Charles Huchins came and was added

                  George Plater Esqr Receiver of his Majestys Revenues within

                  the District of Puttuxent Came & presented two Several

                  Accots to his Excellency the one of the 12 p hhd until the 14th,

                  of May 1697 & the other of all Fines Forfeitures by him Col

                  lected till the 5th day of April Anno 1697.

                    Collo Hutchins being taken Sick absents himself

                    Mr Watkins & Mr West take the new Oaths enjoyned for

                  the better preservation of Trade.

                    Two Letters of Mr Slyes writt to Mr Watkins being pro

                  duced and read one thereof ordered to be delivered to the

                  Kings Lawyers together with another writt to Mr Taylards

                  formerly read for his Directions to prosecute Slye pursuant to

                  former Order and that another private Letter writt to the

                  said Watkins from the said Slye be kept in being the better to

                  prove the said Slyes hand writing upon occasion the other

                  Letter to be laid before the Assembly.

                    Mr Tailor Sheriff of Dorchester County desires to have

                  leave to come up to the Provincial Court & it is Granted him

            

            

                           March the 16th 1697/8
