grant Comissions to Sr Thomas Laurence Baront to be Judge, Lib. H. D. Henry Denton Regr and Thomas Collyer Marshall of his Majtes Court of Vice Admiralty for the Province of Maryland. And it being signified tht Sr Thoms Laurence having already made his excuse of his disability by sickness and his being taken up wth other matters, relating to the Secretaryes place; and his Honor Collo Robotham being appointed already Iudge of the said Court in all the Counties on the Eastern Shore. It is Ordered that the Honoble Thomas Tench Esqr be consti tuted in like manner Judge of his Majtes Court of Vice Admiralty on the western Shore Henry Denton Regr and p. 6zo Thomas Hutchins Marshall thereof. Produced and read the Comission formerly produced for Administring an an Oath to his Exncy the Governr of Mary land; which said Oath in the said Commission contain'd was publickly administred unto his sd Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr by the Gentlemen of his Majtes honoble Councill present & George Muschamp Esqr one of the Comissrs therein nomi nated in prsence of severall persons then rnett together in the Court House of Calvert County. The Honoble Thomas Brook Esqr came and was aded The Collectrs of his Majtes Customes of Patuxent & Potomock districts are told by the Honoble Edwd Randolph Esqr Surveyr Genrll of his Majtes Customes on the Continent of America & Islands adjacent how that he was directed to acquaint them from the Rtt Honoble the Lords of the Treasury and Comissrs of his Majtes Customes that they considered to setle Sallaries on each of them for their Encouragement and to Enable them to keep boat and hands to go on board all Shipps & Vessells to examine their Loading inwards & outwards and as an addition to the 20 p Cent now only allowed them for their Collection of the penny p pound giving them also an account of the paticular care the said Comissrs had taken in sending all the Collectors severall necessaries of Bookes, Inke, waxe, wafers, paper &ca for their respective Offices, the web they were Ordered to send for being lodged with the Clerk of the Councill at the Port of Annapolis. Their Exncys the Lords Justices Instructions to his Exncy the Governour in relation to trade, as also his Majtes Comission for administring the Oath of Trade to his Exncy were delivered to the sd Collectors and Navall Officers present for them to go aside & read them over by themselves. Produced by the Honoble Edward Randolph Esqr a Comis sion under the hands & Seale of the Honoble the Com missrs for prizes, dated the third of July 1697, constituting him Surveyor Genrll for prizes in all the Colonyes & Provinces 24
