That he believes a Vessel will be dispatcht away from thence that the Reasons of their Stay may be known and Shall Send up a boat in few days, which shall give his Exncy a fur ther Accot of that.
ffebry the 18th 1696/7. p. 460 Came and appeared at the Board Coll: Henry Darnall the Lord Baltemores Agent Signifying his Intentions of going for England this ffleet; in Ordr to adjust and settle severall matters and Accots with his Lordship. therefore humbly desires that a Pass may be granted him pursuant thereto; whereby he may not meet with any obstrucon Ordered that the same be granted him and prepared occordingly to pass undr the Broad Seal of the Province; Provided he have made due Corn plyance with the Law of the Countrey in that Case. The sd Coll: Darnall does futher Move that being Entrusted by his Lordship in the issuing and Granting Warrants and Patents for Land and the honrble Sr Thomas Laurence Baront Secryr being by an Ordr of his Maty in Councill Dated the 13th of ffebry 1695, appointed to Receive the one moyety of the ffees but does Refuse to bear half the Charge of the Office therefore Prays the Opinion of the Board therein, the which being Debated upon and the sd Ordr produced & Read together with the Agreemt made betwixt the Lord Baltemore and Sr Thomas Laurence in Relation thereto, Sr Thomas does say that he has not as yet Rëcd: one farthing of ffees nor will not untill the sd OrdT and Agreemt be Explain'd by the Attorney Genll and my Lord Baltemore in England, it being adjudged that the sd matter cannot be Determined here. His Exncy is further pleas'd to acquaint the sd Coll: Darnall how that there lyes a Dispute still to whom Waifs, Strays, Deodands treser trove, Estates of persons felo de se insanae memoriae &ca do belong and tht he would do well (now he is a going for England) for to Signifye the same to the Lord Baltemore and to intimate likewise the want of an Escheat Office here it being intended that these matters shall be laid before his Maty in Councill, who does say he shall acquaint his Lordship with it. It is most humbly Reprsented to the Rt honrble the Lords of the Committee of Trade and fforreign Plantacons by his Mats Govern and Councill of his Province of Maryland, That whereas there lyes a dispute in this Province in Relation to Waifs, Strays, Deodands treser trove, Estates of prsons felo de se, insanae
