282 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. H. D. to, herewith sent; and it is hereby Ordered that an account of his proceedings herein be returned unto this Board with all convenient speed. Ordered that the Honoble Collo Nicholas Greenberry Judge of his Majesties Court of Vice admiralty on the Western Shore be sworne accordingly at his next appearance in Councill; as also the Register and Marshall of the said Court. Ordered that the Kings Lawyers take care to see the Shipp Expectation (whereof John Tench was Master) strictly pros secuted in his Majesties Court of Vice Admiralty on the East ern Shore; for breach of one of the Acts of Trade &ca and that they give notice thereof to the Honoble Coll George Robotham Judge of that Court, that due proceedings may be made there in accordingly. His Exncy is pleased to demand of the Board if they know of anything further, for his Majesties service, at present to be Offer'd who say they do not.
By his Exncy the Governr &Ca Octobr 27th 1697. Upon the Representation & application of George Plater Esqr his Majtes Receiver of Patuxent district. Ordered that the respective Collectors and Navall Officers of the sd district give notice to all Masters of Shipps at their entry making, that they omitt not to give good and Sufficient security for the Duties of Ols 03d p hhd and 3d p Tunn (by Law accruing & raised for the support of this Government) unto his Majesties said Receiver or his Deputies by him lawfully authorized. By his Exncy the Governr &Ca Octobr 25th 1697. Vpon Representation how that Mr Samll Worthington, one of the Attorneys of Somrsett County Court was a great promoter and Instigator of a late pretended Marriage betwixt George Layfield Esqr and one Mrs Priscilla White of that County; for which illegall & undue Practices he is not thought fitt to be continued in that imploye of an Attorney Ordered therefore that the Justices of Somrsett County aforesd do not for the future, admitt nor suffer him the said Worthington to practice in tht County Court His Exncy thinking fitt for the Reason aforesaid to suspend and debarr him from the same; And he is hereby-in his Majesties name suspended from his said prac tise accordingly; whereof all persons concern'd are to take due notice at their perill.
