              The following Ordr issued Vizt

       By his EXnCY the Governr & Council Octobr 23d 1697.

     Ordered that the Sherriff of Calvert County do (upon sight

    hereof) summons Mr Jno Griggs, Lt Coll Ino Bigger Majr

    Walter Smith, Mr ffrans Hutchins, Mr Samll Houldsworth,

    Mr ffrans ffreeman, Mr Elisha Hall & Mr Thomas Smith

    Iustices of that County Court, to be & appear before

    his Exncy in Council, the last Tuesday in ffebry next to

    answer their contempt to a certain Ordr of his Exncy in

    relation to Mr Iams Cranford, bearing date the 11th of Augt

    last past.

     Came and appeared Geo: Muschamp Esqr Collr & Receiver p. 552

    of his Majtes Customes within the district of Potomock, who

    signifying to his Exncy that his MajtY having as yet appointed

    no Receiver for the district of Pocomoke, does humbly pro.

    pose to take upon him the Officiating as Receiver of that

    district, supposing it was design'd to have been inserted in

    his Comission, by reason Coll Blakistons Coniission extended

    to both.

     Geo: Plater Esqr his Majtys Receiver of Patuxent district

    being present, is asked whether he has any pretension to that

    district & how the same has hitherto been managed; Who

    makes answer that no prson being actually Commissionated

    to be Receivr for tht district he took care to look after the

    same; but tht his Comission extends only to Patuxent district,

    therefore does think it proper for Mr Muschamps care for the

    future, the same being formerly joyned to Potomock Ordered

    thereupon that the sd Esqr Muschamp doe for the future take

    care to receive his Majtys dues accruing in tht district; and

    tht all persons concern'd render their accounts to him & yield

    all due obedience accordingly; he giving good Bond &

    security for his due discharge of tht trust

     A Bond in pursuance thereof being prepared was read &

    approved off; & afterwards Signed, Sealed & delivered by

    the said Geo Muschamp Esqr & the Honoble Thorns Tench

    Esqr (his security) for the use of his MajtY

   

   

   

                    Octobr 20th 1697.

     Geo: Muschamp Esqr brings Mr Jno West Navall officer of

    Pocomoke district & proposes him to be his deputy Receiver

    for tht district if thought fitt by this Honoble Board and the sd
